Hand Sourced works as a grass roots wholesale outlet dedicated to food service businesses throughout QLD and Northern NSW. We are a fully Queensland owned and operated small business.
We supply only high end, premium and niche market rare, heritage and endangered produce sourced from Australia’s own.

We work directly for, with and beside Australia’s small, sustainable farmers and producers and align them with like-minded consumers by sharing their stories and produce. We place particular emphasis on supporting Australian farmers and growers who have made a commitment to promoting sustainable farming and manufacturing processes.
We work on full transparency and supply single origin produce only. This means we do not supply boxed meats or bulk units of cuts. Rather, we encourage you to explore whole carcasses and full animals the way nature intended them to grow.

How do I purchase?
Our wholesale outlet is available to the public for online orders. Items can be collected in person, or delivered at your cost. Shop here from the comfort of your home and order any of the farmer direct products that fall within our Community Buyer’s Group criteria. Place your order online and pay the deposit (if applicable). We’ll confirm your order and advise delivery/collection time.
Your order will be available for pick up from Ascot, Brisbane or we can organise delivery (see below).
If you are looking to share in a whole cow, pig or sheep, once we receive your request, we’ll send out a farmer direct offer to the remainder of our group. Once we have enough takers, we’ll lock in your order. You are welcome to move this along by suggesting others to join you in your purchase.

Is it organic?
We support farmers with transparent ethical and sustainable farming practices and best practice in animal husbandry. Many of our farms run on full biodynamic systems. Some are certified organic; others grow limited or seasonal produce with yields so small, organic certification becomes cost prohibitive.
We guarantee that each and every one of them is doing something ‘different’ – something that provides a valuable contribution to our supply chain. Each farm is family owned, the produce raised by those that run the land.
All our produce grows on pesticide, fertiliser, and herbicide free paddocks, preserved by sustainable, environmentally aware methodologies. Our animals are always pasture raised and able to roam free for their growing life. They are free from unnecessary antibiotics, chemical intervention, prophylactics or chemical growth hormones.
Any wild caught game is shot by qualified hunters under strict and stringent conditions. Mostly, our game is shot at night when the animal is at rest, in order to minimise any stress on the animal or flock/herd.

Do you deliver?
Yes. Minimum order value for delivery: $100.00. Deliveries to regional areas may incur additional freight costs. All local orders are sent via chilled courier. Remote orders and orders outside QLD are sent via TOLL air express, see below. You agree to all delivery terms when submitting your order.

Freight charges will apply
All interstate freight will be sent via Toll Express to your closest major airport. Flight connections to minor airports can be arranged using Australia Post airfreight.
We recommend Toll Express and suggest all items be sent as frozen. All chilled and frozen goods are sent with the utmost care and attention, however, freight sent other than Toll Express is not insured for loss or damage. Please refer to our delivery terms regarding alternative transport methods.
All Interstate orders are at your cost.
We are unable to guarantee specific delivery times. If you have a special request please make this clear when placing your order and we will aim to accommodate where possible. If you are not available during normal business hours, please make alternative arrangements for the delivery. If no one is available to receive the goods a delivery fee will be charged for each subsequent return delivery attempt.
Claims for credits & returns must be made in writing within 24 hours of receipt of the goods. Goods must be either returned or available for pick up and must be in original packaging and unopened/unused. If we provide credit, our terms are strictly applicable. If you are experiencing financial difficulties please make contact to discuss.
You are welcome to organise your own courier. All items requiring delivery must be paid for in full before delivery. For items sold by weight, this payment can be made via eft or an over the phone bank transfer. Credit card fees apply.
How long will my order take?
That depends on what you have ordered, and if it is in stock. Generally, we suggest emailing us first if you are unsure; have a specific date pending (like the boss’s dinner!) or are after something in a hurry. We buy whole animals from the farmer, directly. Then, we have it butchered by our own recommended butchers. This means we may have to wait until all 4 quarters of the cow is spoken for, or all cuts of lamb are allocated. Most of our animals have four legs and one head, and we can’t leave just one leg hopping around the paddock.
If you are going away when delivery is due, we often have facilities to hold your item frozen for you. This may incur a cost. Please, contact us to ask any questions about your order.
How do I pay you?
Once you place your order, we’ll send you payment options, confirm your order and advise delivery (to us) and the collection (for you) date and time. You will be required to place a deposit at the time you place your order, with final payment due on or before collection or delivery.
Hand Sourced prefers payment via direct deposit to our bank account. These bank details will be provided to you at the time your order is placed online. Your order will not be processed until your deposit is paid. Alternatively, we accept payment via credit card (a surcharge applies) or cash on collection. We will contact you to discuss payment and collection options.
Why not full payment?
All animals weigh different amounts. Variations in animals of the same breed can be up to 30%. To make sure we don’t overcharge you, you pay a deposit, which secures your order. The remainder is payable depending on the weight of your finished product.
Do you have a payment plan system?
Yes, we do. Contact us to arrange the details. We’ll provide you with an account number and name specific to you. You can deposit as much or as little as you wish, on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or irregular basis. There is no minimum amount or timeframe applicable, and there are no fees attached. Provided you have enough credit in the system you are free to purchase or order what you desire. Monies deposited are not refundable, but are offered as credit.
Terms are COD. 14 day accounts are available for approved applicants. Interest may be applied to overdue accounts. Payments can be made by EFT, cheque, cash, or by credit card with our office. Please note 2.5% fee for Visa & Mastercard and 3% for American Express. Goods remain the property of Hand Sourced until invoices are fully paid.
I ordered 1/4 cow (or sheep, or goat). How much meat will I get?
Make sure you refer to the tabs at the bottom of the product description page (in the online store) to see how much each of the purchase options weighs in at. There are big differences between hot (live) weight, dressed (killed) weight, and butchered (ready to eat) weight. We only charge you for what you receive, and should there ever be an exception to this, we will clearly note this on the product tab. You can also read a little on how it works here.
Can I order a specific cut?
No. Unless we grow an eye-fillet-only cow or a shoulder-only pig with a few extra legs, specific cuts are not available. We respect the whole animal and therefore, you will receive a whole, half or an even-quarter of any beast (except poultry and seafood). This includes all bones, trimmings and offcuts. All that remains is for you to confirm your collection or delivery options.
How is it packed?
All items are packed in compliance with the SafeFood QLD requirements. Fresh animals are cryovaced (vacuum sealed) or airlock bagged after butchering, meaning you can take home to eat, refrigerate or freeze as you desire. Your items will be packed in Styrofoam boxes; bagged and in cardboard boxes; or smaller items, in commercial bags.
All items are stored under 2c for 3 days following arrival and if not collected, are moved to our offsite commercial snap freezing system. We hold a Certificate of Accreditation 124202000 under the Food Production (Safety) Act 2000.
Can I meet the farmer?
Most of our farmers arrange delivery in person. You can meet them at the point of drop-off, or we can take you to them for a personal tour.
