Never Miss Out.
Sometimes the hardest part about buying slow-grown, ethically raised food isn’t choosing what you’d like – it’s knowing when it will be available.
Unlike supermarket supply chains, many of the products we source are produced in small quantities and are committed to customers well before they arrive. That means popular products, particularly our slow-grown chicken, can have waiting lists during busy periods.

Our Standing Order system is designed to make that easier.
It isn’t a subscription, and it doesn’t lock you into regular purchases. Instead, it’s a simple way to stay one order ahead.
How it works
When your order arrives, we’ll contact you just as we always do. If you’re ready, we’ll arrange delivery.
Before we finalise everything, we’ll ask whether you’d like us to place your next order.
You can keep it exactly the same or make changes. Add wings, remove thighs, order a different quantity or switch products entirely. Once you’re happy, we’ll place the next order with the farm and you’ll move back into the production queue.
From then on, you’re always one order ahead.
Flexible by design
Life changes, and so do your needs.
If you’re not quite ready when your order arrives, we are able to hold it in our frozen storage until you are.
If you’d like to make changes, you can do that before your next order is placed. Once an order has entered production, it can’t be changed because the farm has already allocated animals and, in the case of mixed cartons, packed them specifically for you.
The important thing to remember is that you’re never committed to months of orders. You’re only ever one order ahead.
Why customers love it
Our Standing Order system helps you:
- reduce waiting times on popular products
- improve your chances of securing limited seasonal supply
- avoid having to remember to reorder every time
- adjust your order as your needs change
- enjoy greater peace of mind, knowing your next order is already in the queue
Better for farmers too
Standing Orders don’t just make life easier for customers. They also help our farmers plan ahead, manage production responsibly and continue raising animals at the pace good farming requires.
It’s another way we’re helping connect our Hand Sourced community with exceptional food, while supporting the small Australian farms that produce it.

Hey hun, I’m sure we’ve been down this road but not sure I actually did anything about it and now being asked what’s happening. Oops. Bek Daley, Robyn and I were interested in a chook standing order but maybe not every month – perhaps every couple of months or quarterly. Is that doable and what should we do to organise it if it is?
If you pop over here and work out what you want for your standing order, https://www.handsourced.com.au/product/sommerlad-heritage-chicken-customised then you can come back to me with frequency.
Standing orders are very flexible and work on a simple one-cycle commitment, so if you ever need to make changes or pause your order, it’s easy to do — any adjustments simply take effect after the next already-packed carton has moved through the system.
Because everything is done in small batches and aligned with the farm’s natural rhythm, sometimes the 6 weeks becomes an 8 week cycle, so a standing order will drop your wait time, and if you are not ready, I can hold it at the cold stores until you are. I hope all that makes sense!
